The Department of Children's and Family Services ("DCFS") investigated
reports of child abuse and neglect. After an investigation if the
Department determines that abuse or neglect has occurred, an individual
will become "indicated". An indicated finding means that after an
investigation DCFS has found credible evidencethaet a child was abused or
neglected and that the indicated individual is responsible for the abuse or
neglect. An indicated finding can be maintained on the State Central
Register for fifty (50) years unless successful with an administrative
appeal. Such a finding can have wide reaching effects on one's current
employment, future employment and reputation in the community.
